El Gran Charro: Authentic Mexican Cuisine in Stafford, VA

Service was amazing from the hose to the server , food I ordered tacos de Carne asada they were very salty, my daughter order the same thing but both plate tested different meats. The chicken tacos were very good, the chicken flautas were amazing.

I walked in today at about 12 noon, alone and hungry. Upon entering, I was seated immediately. The table and booth were perfectly clean and comfortable, yet not worn out at all. Within 10 seconds I had a menu, a basket of incredibly fresh chips, a glass of clean water, some salsa and their famous white dipping sauce. So far everything tasted unique, and amazing. I ordered the lunch combo #3, a cheese enchilada, a crispy beef taco, rice and beans. My food arrived within 4 minutes of ordering. Now you might expect that when being served a dish of four different types of items, each requiring a different preparation, that one or more of the item would be cooled off or served at a relatively different temperature than the other items on the plate, but this was perfect. Everything on my plate was hot, and fresh! My waiter checked in at all the right moments to make sure that all of my needs and desires were quickly met. The food was very good and the portions were generous! The place was not empty, but was also not overly crowded. This is a great place for a quick working lunch, or a casually-paced family meal, or a quiet date. This place never disappoints!

I loved having dinner at El Gran Charro a couple of days ago. We were seated almost immediately when we arrived even though it was really packed. Our food tasted delicious, the price was right. Also loved the friendliness of the servers and food runners. They accommodated my sons dish as requested and made sure it was correct which I truly appreciated it. Def. Kids friendly so a plus!

Stopped by at this place for lunch. My husband had quesabirria and I had lunch specials which was the lunch fajitas with steak. My husband said his food was pretty good, my fajitas was good too the only thing that steaks was a bit overcooked, probably if the chef served it the steaks medium cooked will be still slowly cook on sizzling hot plates by the time get to my table. When the sliced steaks overcooked it turned out to be dry. The salsa tomatillo (got extra charged) that I asked from our waiter was really good perfect taste and spiciness for me.

The flavors are always spot on and satisfying. I’ve also ordered their chicken dishes on different occasions for pickup, and the process has always been smooth, quick, and hassle-free. The staff keeps things moving, making it convenient to grab food on the go. Sometimes they forget the utensils, but aside from that, the food and service have been excellent

The happy hour at this place is priced really well. The house tequila was smooth and the bartenders are professional. They make sure you are taken care of and keep the drink flowing efficiently. Will definitely be back!

Growing up in Texas I have tasted a lot of good Tex-Mex food. I also know it just varies based upon location and El Gran Charro is actually pretty darn good. I'm a little disappointed in the steak fajitas as I think the type of beef used or how they are preparing it is not necessarily my style. The texture should be firm and spicy instead of chewy. That said, it's pretty good and I suspect the beef prices are contributing to that issue. The jalapeno bacon appetizer was too spicy for my wife so I had to eat the whole thing. I'll be sure to order it again in the future :-) It's tasty good. The taco salad, drinks, etc. were all spot on and the service is very very good. They were slammed busy and we were never forgotten.

We sat at the bar, lots of TVs. The staff was very attentive, everytime I turned around a plate was being taken or a drink was being refilled. Good prices and the food was delicious. Sorry I forgot to take pictures, probably because I was extremely hungry. I got the Burrito Mexicano, and it came out looking like a Mexican flag with salsas and quest dripping down the sides.
